Do dogs have a sense of humour

Responding to the messages that arrive every day, we came up with the idea of covering this topic too. A lady
asked us: "As soon as I sit down to eat, my dog needs to go out and relieve itself. Is it possible that it is
joking with me?"
Do dogs share our sense of humour?
If you have ever watched dogs play, you might think they make a noise that sounds like laughter. You
would be right. During play, dogs produce a vocalisation that can be understood as laughter. It is believed to be part of
the way dogs communicate with one another in play.
Dogs learn quickly, and it does not take them long to realise that if they can make us laugh, we are more likely to keep
engaging with them. Our laughter reinforces the dog's natural desire to keep playing with us, and whatever makes us laugh
it will repeat more often. Many dog owners describe how their dogs display behaviour that could be
considered a joke, because the dog did something that made you laugh and then did it again and again.
For most dogs that are bonded with their owners, a laughing person is positive and powerful. Most
of our dogs try to attract attention, and even laughter, from us.
Whether you want a good family companion or you plan to do sport with your dog, it is important
to bring elements of play and humour into your training sessions. Unfortunately, we cannot ask dogs exactly what they find
funny, and we cannot say for certain that they are really joking with us.
Still, we have to admit that most dogs radiate joy, and their company makes us less lonely. So,
spend as much time as you can with your dog, because the more you do, the greater the chances that you will find something to
laugh about together.
