Pit Bull Terrier kills man in a flat

Novi Sad: A dog considered a dangerous breed killed a man last night in a flat in Novi Sad, inflicting fatal injuries to his neck; the incident took place in Solunska Street, "Politika" has learned.

The event was confirmed to our paper by the police and the ambulance service. They state that the dog was a Pit Bull Terrier. The dog has been put down.

The man who was killed, Z. B. (56), was reportedly the dog's owner and had been together with it last night in the flat at Solunska 7, where his son was the first to come across his father's body.

"He was found by his son, who reported it to the police; they entered the flat and found the man with bite wounds to the neck area. The Pit Bull was taken away by the animal control service," the police confirmed unofficially.

According to Dr Zoran Krulj, physician and spokesman for the ambulance service, a medical team responded urgently at the address at Solunska 7.

"He was pronounced dead at the scene. A man born in 1968. The police and animal control are present," Dr Krulj told our paper, citing the ambulance service report.

We have learned unofficially that the dead man was found on the bed, and that the dog that killed him was put to sleep on the spot by the public utility company's "Zoohigijena i veterina" service.
