The puppy's legs were on one side and its head on the other. They did not even know how to pick her up.. She was taken to the vet. Severe concussion, injuries to the front legs and a dislocated pelvis. All you could hear from her was painful whimpering…. She was named Viktorija and taken to temporary accommodation… She was taken to therapy every day, her veins were bursting from the drips, because she would not eat. She fought for her life with all her might. She was afraid of every touch. Days passed. And then, then she lifted her little head. A few days after that she took her first steps. Unsteady, but she tried to walk. She met friends, who made her want to run, to chase them. Their touch became a balm for all the wounds of her soul. She loved being kissed… And then she ran. … She had to win. That is why she got that name. We followed her story, grieved with her, and then decided to make her life beautiful forever. Hers in particular.. We wanted to see her happy, to be a smiling dog. Now her name is Rija (short for ViktoRija). She is happy, loved and has the company of 2 more little dogs. Later it was discovered who the man was who so heartlessly hurt an innocent puppy. A report was filed immediately, which unfortunately has still not come up for hearing to this day. We can be humane, we can be human with a little goodwill… we can help those weaker than ourselves in many ways.
