He was obedient and very quickly learned everything they taught him. But one evening they noticed something very strange. They realised their pet did not sleep at night; instead he would stand outside their room and watch them. This happened every night and they did not know what to do.

They took him to the vet, and after the examination it turned out the dog was perfectly healthy. Then they went back to the shelter they had taken him from, and there they heard a sad story. They learned that his previous owners had brought him there in the night and never came back. The dog was fast asleep at the time, and when he woke up he realised he had lost his family without even getting a chance to say goodbye. When they heard that sad story, they burst into tears and decided to restore the trust the dog had lost.

They placed his bed next to their own to show him that they wanted him close to them.

After a few weeks the dog finally fell into a deep sleep, and since then his fear has never returned.
