Teach your dog to follow you!

The general rule is that the dog is led on the left side, using the command "HEEL".
The walk begins with the dog sitting by your left leg. On the command "HEEL", the dog and the owner move forward in a straight line. If the dog moves in any direction other than the owner's, a tug on the lead is used to return the dog to its original position while saying the command "HEEL". As soon as the dog is back in its original position, it should be praised and rewarded.

The moment you stop, you give the command "SIT" and reward the dog.

Although this looks very simple, many dog owners have problems walking their dog on a lead. It should be noted that walking on a lead is taught from the moment the dog goes on its very first walk.

Practise this exercise with sudden changes of direction so that the dog learns to follow you. It is also important to note that the dog must not be kept on a tight lead during the walk; at the moment of correction you make a tug, and after that the lead is relaxed. If you keep the lead tight, the dog will try to overcome the resistance you are giving it and will pull you harder every time. Be persistent in teaching your dog to walk properly at heel, on the lead and without it.
