DISTURBING FOOTAGE: Dog Shot Dead During a Walk in the Middle of Mostar

Police are investigating the killing of a dog in the centre of Mostar, between apartment blocks and private houses in the densely populated Dubrovačka Street, near the ‘Bevanda’ fitness centre, where someone in front of number 13 killed a two-year-old female dog, while her temporary foster carer was sitting just three metres away

The shocked young woman hugged the mortally wounded dog and, covered in blood, cried out for help. That is also how the report later reached the Mostar Police Department, because at first it was not known whether only the dog had been hit or both of them. The desperate young woman then laid the unfortunate animal on a board and dragged it along, trying to reach medical help as quickly as possible. The whole thing happened on Tuesday shortly before dark, around 6.30 pm, in full view of several mostly younger witnesses, two of whom heard the loud whistle of bullets above their heads. The fatal shot is believed to have come from a distance of about 50 metres, and according to the findings of a one-hour autopsy requested by the Criminal Police Department of the Mostar Police, the vets established that a small-calibre bullet had passed through the spleen and a lung. Just three days earlier, a dog was also killed in cold blood in the Mostar neighbourhood of Opine, so this case has further upset the 40 or so active volunteers in Mostar Robert Soldo
