When the dog plays with other dogs, does it always turn into a game of chase, or is it more focused on wrestling that ends quickly? Assessing a dog's energy is very important, because you will choose a dog that is similar to you and at the same time prevent the dog from being abandoned because your energies do not match well enough. The biggest cause of bad behaviour in dogs is when their needs for exercise, discipline and affection are not met, but especially when they do not get enough exercise to burn off excess energy and bring themselves into a calm, content and settled state, and that is very important when you want proper communication within the pack.
