Argentine Dog (Dogo Argentino)

The Dogo Argentino was created in 1910 in Argentina by crossing mastiffs, Great Danes, Boxers and dogs of other breeds. Breeders thus obtained a harmonious breed.

The Dogo Argentino is a strong, brave and agile animal. It is also gifted with an excellent sense of smell.

A dog used for guarding and defence, as a rescue dog and a guide for the blind, it is capable of performing the most varied tasks, including the role of a fighting dog, for which it was originally created.

The Dogo Argentino is also a family pet, loyal and affectionate, highly valued in its home country.

Strong but not heavy, the Dogo Argentino has a typically molossoid head, a compact and prominent skull, with very well-developed jaws without prognathism. The strong teeth are well set. The eyes are wide open and dark in colour.

The gaze is lively and intelligent. The nostrils are well open and the nose is strongly pigmented black. The ears are set high or semi-erect, usually cropped. The neck, strong and arched, forms folds as in the mastiff. The legs are straight and stable. The chest is broad and deep. The tail hangs naturally; when fighting, the dog moves its tail sideways as if rejoicing. The Dogo Argentino has a short, dense coat. It is uniformly white and must not have any markings.
