The 12 Commandments of a Dog

1. My life lasts 10 to 15 years. Every parting from you means suffering for me. Think about that before you take me.
2. Love me as I am, because you chose me. I do not have the option of choosing my friend and master.
3. Give me time to understand what you want from me. Before you scold me during training, examine yourself, maybe you are the one making the mistake, or I cannot understand what you want.
4. Love me, I live on your love.
5. Do not be angry with me and do not punish me. After all, you have your work, your friends, your entertainment, and I have only you.
6. Talk to me. Even if it seems to you that I do not understand you, I still know what you think and feel.
7. Know that I do not forget how I am treated.
8. Think before you hit me. I could easily bite you, but I never do.
9. Do not treat me as a toy while I am small and sweet, only to discard me later, because my love for you is eternal.
10. Take care of me when I grow old, lose my teeth, go deaf, go blind, stop being able to move. Someone will take care of you too, old age is the same for everyone.
11. Accompany me on my last journey. Never say: “I can't watch that” or “Let it happen while I'm not there”. With you, everything is easier for me.
12. When I am gone, do not grieve, but make some new dog happy and love it as you loved me.
