DOG SWEPT AWAY AT A DANGEROUS DAM: Gardener heroically rescued it with a rope and a neighbour's help (VIDEO)

An incredible scene took place at the Bell Park dam in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, when a dog was swept away by the water.

It would have had no chance at all had it not been rescued by Amos Ndlovu (35), which was also captured on camera.

The first to notice the dog was in trouble was James Stewart, who was out walking with his wife Stella. He quickly ran home to find a rope and called his neighbour's gardener, Amos.

Amos tied the rope around his waist and lowered himself into the icy water.

Step by step, he managed to reach the dog, which was standing on a rock.

The animal was terrified, but he managed to gain its trust.

Carefully, with the help of the rope, the gardener made it back to the bank and handed the dog over to Stewart.

"Amos is a hero and deserves a medal for this," said Stella, who points out how dangerous it is to walk beside the dam, because one wrong step can lead to death.
