A dog braver than people

Wedding guests in a Nigerian village were saved by a dog that fought a suicide bomber until the bomb exploded, killing the animal as well.

A police spokesman confirmed to the AP today that the dog intervened and saved the wedding guests.

An official from the Nigerian village of Belbelo, near Maiduguri in the north-east of the country, said that the wedding guests were deeply grateful to the dog, which sacrificed itself to save their lives.

According to him, a teenage girl carrying a bomb turned up on Sunday at a wedding attended by most of the village's residents, and the dog leapt on her.
